Today is a very special day for one very special person. Alyssa, a nine-year-old girl undergoing cancer treatment, will walk the runway for the first time tonight during Maison De LaCour’s fashion show called “The Immaculate One.” The show will be hosted by Corri McFadden of Edrop-Off, April Francis founder of the critically acclaimed Dose Market and Angi Taylor, Morning Radio Host for 103.5 KISS FM. It has always been Alyssa’s dream to strut her stuff, and with this charity fashion show benefitting The American Cancer Society, LUX MGT will present a dramatic Fashion Focus Chicago production of a lifetime. The entire show has been choreographed by the critically-acclaimed Yana German, featuring MDLC’s new ready-to-wear line with pageantry set to the music of “Bohemian Rhapsody,” but the intermission will include a special modern ballet performance. Surely an evening of courage, charity, and heart, The Immaculate One is set to be the primer fashion event of this years Fashion Focus Chicago.
After working with Au Courant and being enlightened about this new fashion powerhouse, I am thrilled to share that Au Courant is having their debut installation in Chicago this Friday, September 28th. At an undisclosed location, Chicago’s premier fashion community will experience the world of Au Courant firsthand. With an unparalleled vision and design intellect for the future of modern haute couture, Au Courant stands to redefine how we view fashion. I’m sure all of this sounds a bit dramatic, but I stand by my words. Launching their latest venture into women’s wear, you can expect big things from this growing brand. I’m currently obsessed with this editorial promo shot featuring their first femme piece, covered in real pearls. Yes, you heard me, pearls.
The Underground Inspired Fashion Show was a total success! The opportunity to style four men’s looks, alongside three of the best bloggers in Chicago, was one I could not pass up. Styling men’s runway is different from styling women’s, and for this event, it was important that the brand of the store/designer came through in the styling. After discovering the most amazing new line and designer, we put together a clean and tailored styling concept for my looks! I couldn’t be happier with the way everything worked out, mostly because I got to work with the most amazing fashion I’ve ever seen! Au Courant is a new clothing line that offers the finest in street-chic couture. Available only in select boutiques in Europe, Japan and online, Au Courant is the pulse of modern fashion. After working with the current pieces (each piece being made in limited quantities), I could feel the quality and see the integrity of each garment. Needless to say, I am obsessed. I’ll have more information on Au Courant posted this week, along with a video wrapping up the event!

Probably freaking out about a wrinkle…
You know me, I’m a sucker for a good fashion video. I love bringing to life the energy of events through music and editing. This Underground Style Series video is great because it highlights what Underground Chicago does best, throw a freakin’ party! I hope everyone comes out this Thursday September 13th to watch STEPHEN STYLE take the runway! More info on event and how to RSVP HERE.
I would still consider myself a fashion virgin, but this year at Fashion’s Night Out Chicago, me and Lauren Elizabeth dominated. Last year we tried to hit every single department store and shop along Michigan Ave, which resulted in nothing but exhaustion and having to hear the ladies complain about their heels. #BeautyIsPain So rather than whoring out ourselves, we prioritized three of our favorite events from years past. Beginning at Nordstrom, we checked out the Cole Haan shoe lounge and the VIP Stylist Studio. With no time to waste we headed down that road people think is classy or something…. Magnificent Mile. Heading for Saks Fifth Ave, we pit stopped in AllSaints Spitalfields so I could try on everything strut like a freak around the store. Once we finally made it to Saks, Lauren and I hit the shoe salon where the party was bumpin’. Meeting some great people and taking photos for Michigan Ave Magazine, we refrained from the bubbly and attempted to touch every shoe in the store, no joke. After dreaming about that perfect 6″ stiletto for your favorite gender-bending Chicago blogger, we decided it was time to make our final stop. The 900 Shops was the place to be this year for their Fame, Fashion & Flavor hoopla. Posing for the papz and finding our favorite blogger, Jena of ChiCityFashion, Lauren and I were beat! Chicago went hard for Fashion’s Night Out this year, so we went harder. #FNOchicago

I’m excited to announce that I have been asked to style looks for Underground Chicago’s 2012 Style Series Fashion Show! This Thursday September 13th, alongside some of my favorite chicago fashion bloggers, I will be showcasing some looks that best represent my style for this fall. If you’re 21+ and looking to get down with dis bad bitch, RSVP to StyleSeries@TheUndergroundChicago.com. Complementary drinks for the first hour, and the show starts around 11pm! As anyone who follows me on Instagram (@stephenstyle) would know, I’m sort of a notorious mess. So let’s get stylishly sloppy together.
The Chicago House Spring Brunch & Fashion Show 2012 was one of the most fun events I’d had the pleasure of attending recently! The fashion show started as I walked into the doors of the Winter Garden Ballroom of the Harold Washington Library, and it didn’t end until I strutted my stuff on the catwalk. An impressive stage and banquet set up filled the skylight space with spring light and color. With bloody mary in hand, I made my way around the room scoping out all the fashion highs and lows. And my census, spring has certainly sprung! Pastels in every shade, floral prints, and “creative” event attire were all the rage. [CONTINUE READING]

Unfortunately, my red dress was at the cleaners, so I wasn’t able to make my best fashion statement for the party, but I made due. None the less, the Chicago Red Dress Party went off without a hitch. The evening began by walking the red carpet and posing for the large group of eager photographers. Naturally I vogued it out, even though my face was more red than my shirt! Entering the VIP lounge with the mayor of Boystown, Bill Pritchard, and some new friends, I was completely overwhelmed by the city view and an explosion of red sophistication. [CONTINUE READING]
